Inspections
What it's for
Inspections is the record of every checklist-driven equipment inspection your shop has run — what passed, what was flagged, what failed, the readings taken, and the deficiencies found. It is where a maintenance visit turns into evidence you can show a customer.
Reach it from Jobs → Inspections in the sidebar, at /inspections. The
list describes itself as "Checklist-driven equipment inspections — pass/flag/
fail, readings, deficiencies."
Tabs
The list has no tabs. Opening an inspection gives you five, covered on the inspection record.
Panels and controls
- The list shows each inspection with the unit it was run on, the technician, and its result, so a run of flagged or failed inspections is visible without opening them.
- Start inspection opens the form that snapshots a checklist against a work order. An inspection is always tied to a job and a unit — it is not a free-floating document.
- Opening a row goes to that inspection's record, where the field results, the customer-facing report, deficiencies, readings, and photos live.
- No inspections yet is the empty state, which on a new shop means the first maintenance visit has not been run rather than that something is broken.
What it accepts
The list writes nothing. Inspections are created from Start inspection and filled in on their own record or in the field app.
How to configure it
- Inspection templates decide which checklists exist, what each one asks, and which equipment types it applies to. They live under Settings → Inspection templates.
- Compliance settings decide which readings are required and when an inspection counts toward a compliance obligation.
- PM material requirements decide what parts a maintenance visit expects to consume.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Inspections area.
Owners, office managers and dispatchers can open it. Technicians run inspections from the field app rather than here. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
