Voice assistance in the technician app

Voice assistance helps you talk through your own work in the technician app. You can ask about your next stops or an assigned unit's details and readings, and review suggestions for a note, time entry or visit change. Your organization's settings control which actions are available.

Talk and review

Allow microphone access when you choose to use voice. Hold to talk captures your request; release to send it. Review the details and reason before confirming a proposed change. Suggested means a proposal or preview. Applied appears only after the server acknowledges a saved change. If a confirmation is queued, it has not yet been acknowledged as applied.

Voice needs an internet connection. It does not listen continuously, invent missing appointment details or give you access to another technician's work. It does not send arbitrary customer messages: visit changes use the normal reconfirmation notice and your organization's bounds.

Your voice and conversation

Your voice and the schedule details you ask about are processed by our speech provider. Thermal keeps no audio and no transcript.

Your conversation appears as a live transcript during the session. It is not saved as a conversation history in Thermal. Thermal does keep the session's activity record and any work changes you confirm, such as a saved note or time entry.

The speech service receives audio and the work details needed to answer you. Cloudflare carries the connection to OpenAI. These providers can have their own logging and retention settings; their effective retention for this service has not been verified. See OpenAI's data controls and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Turn it off

Tap Stop to stop microphone capture, playback and the connection on your phone. You can also turn microphone permission off in your phone's settings.

An administrator can set Voice assistant to Off under Automations, or turn off the automation master switch. That blocks new voice sessions. An active phone session stops when the app receives the updated setting. If you lose your connection, voice stops; your usual job screens remain available.
