Vendor credits

Open Purchasing → Vendor Credits in Thermal →

What it's for

Vendor credits records supplier credits for returns, short shipments and price corrections. Apply a credit to open accounts payable bills and keep track of the amount still available.

Open Purchasing → Vendor credits. Credits adjust balances in Thermal; record the corresponding credit separately in your accounting system.

Tabs

This is a Purchasing view with two sections: Vendor credits and Application history. Both appear on the same page.

Panels and controls

New vendor credit records the vendor, amount and reason. A credit memo number, purchase order reference and bill reference are optional. The credit list shows the original amount, unapplied amount and whether the credit is unapplied, partly applied or fully applied.

Apply to bills, in a credit's row menu, opens eligible bills for the same vendor and branch. Enter an amount against one or more bills. The total cannot exceed the unapplied credit, and each bill's amount cannot exceed its open balance. Apply credit reduces those bill balances.

Application history shows affected bills and applied amounts. Void application requires a reason, restores the amount to the credit and restores that amount on the affected bills. The original application stays visible with its void reason in the history.

What it accepts

Credit entry requires a positive amount in US dollars and a reason. References must belong to your company and the selected vendor. Applications accept only approved bills in the credit's currency and branch.

How to configure it

Create vendors through Purchasing. There is no separate vendor-credit setting. Credits do not require accounting sync to be enabled; external accounting entries are recorded separately.

Who can see it

Access to Vendor credits requires Purchasing access and permission to view costs. The same permissions are checked when recording, applying or voiding a credit application. Your company's records and branch access determine which credits and bills you can use.
