Kit details
What it's for
Review a kit's parts and assemble finished items at one stock location. Building consumes the component parts and adds the finished items together; a shortage blocks the entire build.
Tabs
The record has two sections:
- Components lists the parts directly included in one kit.
- Expanded components lists the underlying parts after nested kits are expanded, with quantities combined across all paths.
Panels and controls
Each section shows Item, Quantity per kit, and Current unit cost. Item links open the inventory record. Costs show Withheld when the operator does not have cost access.
The Assembly panel explains nesting and cost. Existing subkit stock stays on the shelf: a build consumes its underlying parts. The related record opens the finished inventory item.
Choose Build kit, select a stock location and quantity, then confirm. If stock is short, the form shows the required, available and missing quantity for each affected part.
What it accepts
- Stock location: an available stock location in the current scope.
- Kits to build: a whole number from 1 to 1,000.
All component stock must be available at the selected location. A successful build carries the component cost into the finished items.
How to configure it
Inventory costing settings determine the build's component cost. FIFO and LIFO use component cost layers; the current unit costs shown on this record are a reference. Receive component stock before building.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Inventory area. Owners and office managers can open it under the standard roles; dispatchers and technicians cannot. The server checks access even when someone opens a direct link. Cost access is checked separately.
See Roles & permissions for custom access rules.
