What it's for
Custom fields are extra fields your company tracks on customers, service sites, equipment and jobs: contract numbers, cost centres, building IDs and anything else the standard record does not cover. This screen is where you define them. Filling in values on the records themselves arrives in a later release.
Reach it from Settings → This company → Custom fields in the sidebar, at
/settings/custom-fields.
Tabs
This screen has no tabs. Every field is listed in one table, filtered by the Record type facet.

The field list
Each row shows the field's label, key, record type, type and whether it is Active or Archived. The row menu offers Edit and Archive on an active field, and Restore on an archived one.
New field and Edit field
New field opens a form with:
- Label — the name your team sees.
- Key — a short machine name, filled in from the label. It is used in imports and the API and can't change after saving.
- Record type — customer, site, equipment or job. Fixed after saving.
- Type — text, number, date or select. Fixed after saving.
- Choices — for a select field, the options to pick from. A choice that saved values already use can't be removed.
- Maximum length — for a text field; leave blank for 200.
What it accepts
A key must be unique within its record type, so the same key can exist on a customer and on a job. Fields are archived, never deleted: an archived field keeps the values already saved on records readable, but takes no new input.
How to configure it
Nothing in Settings changes how this screen behaves.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Settings area.
Owners and office managers can open it. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
