Warranty rollout

Open Settings → Warranty in Thermal →

What it's for

Warranty is where an owner turns on the Warranty module's reporting and attachment handling. It sits next to the Warranty report and claim records — this page controls whether those surfaces are live and how long attachment evidence is kept; it doesn't hold any individual claim.

Reach it from Settings → Warranty in the sidebar, at /settings/warranty. Only owners see the link, and the page itself redirects anyone else to Settings → Profile.

Tabs

This screen has no tabs. It's a single form with three controls.

Panels and controls

Warranty reporting

A toggle that turns warranty reporting on or off for the org. Off by default.

Secure attachments

A toggle for storing warranty evidence (photos, documents) in private, scanned storage rather than ordinary attachment storage. This control is disabled — greyed out and unusable — until private storage and an approved scanner adapter are configured for your organization; the hint text under the toggle says which state you're in: "Private storage and scanner adapter are ready." when it's available, or "Unavailable until private storage and an approved scanner adapter are configured." when it isn't. You cannot turn this on from the screen while it's unavailable, no matter what you submit.

Attachment retention (days)

How many days a warranty attachment is kept before it's eligible for deletion. A plain number field, 30–3,650 days (roughly one month to ten years).

Save rollout controls submits all three fields together.

What it accepts

FieldFormatRequiredRule
Warranty reportingOn or offNoDefaults to off
Secure attachmentsOn or offNo"Secure attachments are unavailable until private storage and an approved scanner adapter are configured." when the prerequisite isn't met — the toggle is disabled client-side, and the write path re-checks and rejects it server-side too
Attachment retention (days)Whole number, 30–3,650NoNo default shown in the source beyond whatever the org already has stored

Only an owner can save any of this — everyone else gets "Only an owner can change warranty rollout controls."

How to configure it

  • Turning on Warranty reporting is what makes the Warranty report produce numbers instead of sitting empty.
  • Secure attachments governs where warranty evidence physically lives — it's a storage and scanning decision, not a visibility one. Ask whoever manages your integrations whether private storage and the scanner adapter are configured before expecting this toggle to be usable.
  • Attachment retention only controls how long files are kept; it doesn't change who can see them today, since access is already restricted to Settings-area roles.

Who can see it

  • Owners see Warranty in the Settings sidebar and can use every control on it.
  • Office managers have access to the Settings area, but this specific page checks for the owner role and redirects anyone else to Settings → Profile — so an office manager navigating here directly is sent away, not shown a read-only view.
  • Dispatchers and technicians cannot reach Settings at all.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
