Equipment types
Open Settings → Equipment Types in Thermal →
What it's for
Equipment types lists the kinds of equipment your company has added beside the standard list: a walk-in cooler, a booster pump, a chiller loop. Once a type exists, it is offered when you add or edit equipment, and an inspection template can be built for it.
Reach it from Settings → This company → Equipment types in the sidebar, at
/settings/equipment-types.
Tabs
This screen has no tabs. Every type is listed in one table, with its key, trade, the number of units that use it and whether it is Active or Archived.
Panels and controls
The type list
Anyone who can open Settings can read the list. Only an owner sees New equipment type and the row menu, which offers Edit and Archive on an active type.
New equipment type and Edit equipment type
- Name — what your team sees in pickers and on records.
- Key — a short machine name starting with
org_, filled in from the name. It is used in imports and the API and can't change after saving. - Trade — one of the trades your company has switched on. It can't change after saving.
- Attribute schema — optional JSON listing the extra details each unit of this type records. Leave it blank for none.
What it accepts
The attribute schema supports type: "object", properties (each with a
type, enum, minimum, maximum or pattern) and required. Every
required attribute must also be listed under properties. A schema that does
not follow this is refused when you save, even if no equipment uses the type
yet.
Changing the schema is refused when any existing unit of the type would no longer fit it; nothing is changed and the message says how many units are affected.
Archive stops a type being offered for new equipment and new inspection templates. Equipment and templates that already use it keep it, can still be edited, and still start inspections. Archiving an archived type changes nothing.
How to configure it
A type can only be created, offered and assigned while its trade's pack is switched on in Capabilities.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Settings area.
Owners and office managers can open it, and only owners can add, edit or archive a type. Dispatchers and technicians cannot open it. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
