Connect Thermal to your assistant
Open Settings → Integrations → API Webhooks in Thermal →
Connect your assistant to Thermal to ask about work orders, installed equipment, and service agreements. The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard for connecting assistants to tools. Your assistant must support remote MCP connections with sign-in. See the MCP connection standard.
Add the connection
Use these steps when the connection has been enabled for your organization. Production availability and supported assistants are not yet confirmed.
- Open your assistant's settings for connectors or remote MCP servers.
- Add Thermal with this server address:
https://mcp.trythermal.com/v1. - Follow your assistant's sign-in prompt. Thermal uses Clerk's OAuth sign-in.
- Ask for today's work orders to check the connection.
The server address receives requests. The separate address
https://mcp.trythermal.com/oauth/callback is reserved for the sign-in return;
do not enter it as the server address. The hosted return flow is not yet available.
Access and changes
Your organization must grant the connection access. A personal Thermal session or an API key cannot sign in to this connector. Access is limited by the person behind the connection, its granted permissions, and its organization and branch. These are the same Platform API permissions that govern access to Thermal records.
For changes, ask your assistant to preview the proposed action first. A preview creates no change to your records. The connection's current authority can propose a change for approval; it cannot apply a change that requires human approval. An apply request also needs a reason and the matching proposal when required. The connection uses Thermal's existing Platform API controls, including the organization's off setting and request limits. See API access and webhooks.
If sign-in fails
Ask your administrator to check that the connection is enabled and its grant still belongs to a current staff member. The server requires an OAuth access token bound to the Thermal server address; an unbound or expired token is refused. The deployment must use Clerk's JWT access-token format with the Thermal resource address as its audience. See Clerk token verification.
Removing the connection from your assistant stops that assistant from using it. Ask your administrator to revoke its Thermal grant as well when access should end.
