Turn on customer notices

Open Settings → Notifications in Thermal →

A new company starts with automatic customer notices off, so you can finish setting up first. Several notice rows are already ticked for email. Text stays off until a sender and consent exist.

Before the master switch can come on, finish Choose what your customers get. Open the Customer emails item on your setup checklist. Booking confirmation, Appointment updated, Appointment reminder, and Tech on the way start ticked. Survey request does not. Set Reply-to mailbox, then choose Turn on customer emails. That saves the choices and turns Enable customer notifications on.

If you turn the master switch on from Notifications before that step, saving is refused: "Open Choose what your customers get from your Customer emails setup checklist before turning on customer emails." A company that already has the master switch on, with a customer email ticked, can keep saving from Notifications.

Send and Send again still try to email an invoice when automatic customer notices are off. They honour customer stops, bounced addresses and provider suppression. See Send and collect an invoice.

What each notice does

  • Booking confirmations — Confirm the visit to the customer when it is booked, by email, and by text once texting is set up.
  • Appointment reminder — Sent the day before a scheduled visit. Tick Text, Email, or both. Text still needs texting set up, and email needs email set up.

Turn them on

  1. If customer emails are not on yet, open Choose what your customers get from the Customer emails checklist item and choose Turn on customer emails.
  2. To change a notice after that, open Settings → Documents and notices → Notifications.
  3. In Notices, tick Booking confirmations or Appointment reminder for text, email, or both.
  4. Save your changes.

Both notices need Enable customer notifications on. If it is off, neither one is sent, whatever the row switches say.
