Why Start work is blocked, or why you can't complete this job
Start work needs the arrival hazard check and a before photo. Complete job needs the customer signature, required checklist and inspection items, and no stop-work hazard.
Why Start work is blocked
Start work shows once the technician has arrived on the visit. It stays off until the company's arrival requirements are met:
- Arrival job hazard analysis — "Complete the arrival job hazard analysis before starting work." Fill in the safety check on the visit (see Complete a JHA safety check).
- Before photo — "Capture a before photo before starting work." Add a photo in the Before slot on the job.
Both come from the company's active arrival JHA template under Settings → Compliance policy (see Compliance policy). With no active template, nothing blocks the step. Start work is also only offered once the visit is assigned, en route, or arrived. A visit that is not assigned yet needs a technician first.
Why a job can't be completed
The visit's Complete step checks, in order of what the screen reports:
- Customer signature — "Capture the customer's signature before completing this job." An office user can waive it with a reason on the visit.
- Required checklist items — every required item must be done.
- Required inspection items — every required inspection item must be filled in.
- A flagged safety hazard — a hazard marked stop-work blocks completion until a supervisor clears it.
The checks apply to the visit that closes the job. A job with another open visit can finish this visit without the rest.
