Set up the after-hours voice line
Open Settings → Integrations in Thermal →
Your after-hours voice line dials into a phone number Thermal gives you. Once you have one, you forward your existing after-hours line to it, and calls made to your published number after hours reach Thermal instead.
Find it in Settings → Integrations, in the Voice line numbers section.
Get a number
If your company has no voice number yet, the section says No voice numbers yet. Select Get a number. Thermal gets the number for you and adds it to the list. Nothing is ever bought in the background. A number only appears when you select the button.
Each number in the list shows the number itself and a small label for who provides it.
Already have a live number? The button reads Get another number and asks you to confirm first: "This org already has a live voice number. Buy another one?"
If something goes wrong, a red message appears at the top of the section.
If you see "Setup rolling out"
If the section says Setup rolling out — voice numbers are not connected yet., voice numbers are not turned on for your account yet. The Get a number button is greyed out until they are. Check back later.
Forward your after-hours line
Thermal cannot change your phone service for you. Forwarding is set up with your phone carrier.
- Copy the new number from the Voice line numbers list.
- Ask your phone carrier to forward your existing after-hours line to it. Many carriers let you do this from their website or a short dial code.
- Call your published number after hours to check that it reaches Thermal.
When a call to the number ends, Thermal proposes a draft work order from the call. The draft waits for a person to approve it. Nothing becomes a real work order on its own.
Release a number
To stop using a number, select Release next to it and confirm. The prompt names the number and warns that inbound calls to it will stop resolving and that it will be released back to the provider.
Releasing stops new calls right away. Its history is kept. The number no longer shows in the list. To get calls again, select Get a number and forward your line to the new one.
Release only after you have removed the forwarding at your carrier, so callers do not reach a dead line.
