Set your tax rate
Open Settings → Billing in Thermal →
New companies start with a tax rate of 0%, so invoices and quotes carry no sales tax until you choose how it is charged.
Choose how tax is charged
Open Settings → Billing and find Invoicing defaults. Pick one of the three tax options:
- Manual — flat rate. Thermal applies one rate to every invoice and quote. Enter it as a percent in Sales tax rate, for example 8.25.
- Stripe Tax — jurisdiction-aware. The rate comes from the service-site address. If it cannot be worked out, Thermal falls back to the flat rate.
- None — never charge tax. Invoices and quotes always show 0 tax.
Save the section. New invoices and quotes use the new setting; invoices that already exist keep the tax they were created with.
How the setup checklist counts it
The Set your tax rate item ticks itself when you choose Stripe Tax or None, or when the flat rate is above 0%. If your company really does charge 0% tax, choose Got it on the checklist yourself.
