What it's for

Use Serial & lot genealogy to find a physical unit's recorded jobs, site customer, service site, stock status and possible receipt source. A unit can appear on several rows when it has several recorded jobs. Units without a recorded job still appear.

The report shows the current assignment plus checkouts found among the newest 10,000 visible organization audit events in the last 90 days. The same window applies to the page and CSV, before filtering by serial, lot or branch. Other audit activity also counts toward this limit, so busy organizations may see less than 90 days of checkout history. Other checkouts and returns cannot be reconstructed here. This is not a complete custody ledger. A missing row or receipt match does not establish that a unit was never used. Read the evidence notes in the report before using the results for a recall.

Tabs

There are no tabs. The serial or lot search and branch selector filter the same where-used table.

Panels and controls

Find a serial or lot

Enter all or part of a serial or lot code, choose a branch if available, then select Filter. Search ignores differences in letter case. Clear the search to include units whose serial has not been recorded. The branch follows the unit's home stock location. Related jobs and receipts remain within your permitted scope. Open the filters.

Read the unit and job evidence

Unit status distinguishes stock on hand, checked-out units, consumed units and warranty-related states. Home stock location and Bin identify the recorded storage location; the home location is retained while a unit is out. Current assignment identifies the unit's current job link. Recorded checkout identifies an earlier recorded checkout, without asserting that the unit is still assigned there. A returned unit has no active assignment. See the evidence columns.

Read possible receipt sources

Possible source PO and Possible receipt line are inferred from matching receipt records and purchase-order movements recorded together. They are not a confirmed link between a physical unit and a receipt. Multiple candidates are marked Ambiguous receipt transaction and withheld. Not recorded means no usable match was found. Read the receipt notes.

Download the rows

Select Export CSV to download the rows for the current search and branch. The file includes unit and receipt identifiers, assignment evidence and a warning about incomplete history. It includes up to 50,000 rows and ends with a truncation notice if more rows match. Narrow the search or branch before exporting again. Open the report and export.

What it accepts

The search accepts serial and lot text, including part of a code. An unknown code produces an empty table. A branch-limited user cannot widen the report by changing the branch in the address bar. These controls are available on the report.

How to configure it

There is no separate report setup. The report reads existing inventory, job, checkout and receipt records. It does not change stock or assign units to jobs. Missing history must be treated as unknown when interpreting the results.

Who can see it

You need access to both Reports and Inventory. Related job details also depend on your access to those records. Branch restrictions apply to the page and its download. See Roles & permissions and the report.
