WIP schedule

Open Reports → WIP in Thermal →

What it's for

WIP schedule shows earned revenue, billings and over/under billing for every open project in one view. It is the company work-in-progress schedule an accountant reviews at month-end, so they don't have to open each project in turn.

Reach it from Reports → WIP schedule, at /reports/wip.

Panels and controls

The totals band shows Total contract, Earned, Billed, Net over/(under) and Projects in a loss. Net over/(under) also lists over-billings and under-billings separately, because netting them hides both balance-sheet lines.

The Projects table has Project, Status, Contract, Estimated cost, Cost to date, % complete, Earned, Billed to date, Over/(under) and Projected profit columns. A project projected to lose money carries a Loss badge.

  • Progress is cost-to-cost: percent complete is cost to date over estimated total cost, and earned revenue is that share of the contract.
  • A project with no estimate shows its figures blank and is left out of the totals. That isn't a clean project, just an unmeasured one: add phase budgets or a cost to complete on the project record.
  • Select a project to see Cost by phase: labor, material and subcontractor cost to date per phase, with each phase's cost to complete.

As of picks Today (the live position) or a closed month-end. A month-end shows only the position saved at that close. Later cost entries never restate it, and a month with nothing saved shows an empty state instead of today's figures.

Export downloads CSV, XLSX or PDF for the same as-of and branch.

No WIP projects is the empty state.

The report is a read-out. Contracts, budgets and cost to complete are set on the project record.

How to configure it

  • Phase budgets, or a cost to complete per phase, provide the estimate.
  • A schedule of values or milestones provide the contract and the billings.
  • Month-end positions are saved automatically after each month closes.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Reports area and needs permission to view costs.

Owners and office managers can open it. Technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
